Read our itinerary: A Week of Adventure on Lanai

  • Lanai by Helicopter

The island’s dramatic landscape comes into full view as you fly over rolling mountains, jagged cliffs and broad beaches.

    • The 20-minute Lanai Circle Island Experience provides an aerial understanding of the island’s history, culture and beauty. Follow the perimeter of Lanai’s extinct volcano, Palawai. By air, you will see Hulopoe Bay, the dryland forests of Kanepuu Preserve, the lunar landscapes of Keahiakawelo (Garden of the Gods) and the sandy shores of Polihua Beach.
    • Plan to spend just under three hours flying over the islands of Lanai, Kahoolawe, Maui and Molokai. You’ll learn about the geological evolution of the chain of smaller islands, which composed a single land mass more than a million years ago.
    • Choose your own bird’s-eye-view adventure. Develop an itinerary with your pilot for a full day’s flight over coffee estates and remote beaches, and look for lava flows around active volcanoes. You can also cruise above the lush waterfall valleys of the Big Island’s Kohala Coast. When the mood strikes, land for a gourmet picnic lunch, hiking tour or visit to local attractions.

    Flight Lessons

Sit in the pilot’s seat during a private lesson with Maui Flight Academy. During a two- or four-hour training session, learn to perform basic flight manoeuvres such as takeoff, cruising and landing. You can also opt for a grand excursion, such as the Fab 5, a full-day flying experience that includes visits to five islands – Molokai, Honolulu, Lanai, the Big Island and Maui. Plan your lesson at the Adventure Center, located at the Resort.
